Starting in January 2014, FAPE began offering a business-training program for each of the clients in Communal Bank groups. Frequently, microcredit borrowers are offered small business loans, but they lack the financial literacy to use those loans in the most efficient manners. FAPE decided to offer free training classes to its clients, and the feedback has been extraordinary.
- Business Planning
- Testing Markets
- Finding & Eating Healthy Foods
- Good Hygiene Techniques
- Self-esteem Building
For many of our clients, these trainings are the first opportunities for them to step into a classroom setting. The clients react with engaged interest and some cannot hold back their smiles throughout the lessons. The business-training program is so much more than providing clients the fundamentals of running their businesses, the program offers the clients hope.
FAPE's vision to bring the message of Christ to Guatemala is paramount in the design of the training program. Each session includes biblical lessons and passages to affirm the various content being taught. FAPE utilizes the opportunities to grow and learn together in a classroom setting to get to know each client on a personal level. This allows the loan officers the opportunity to share the love and hope found only in Christ.
